Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated every year on the last Thursday of November. The tradition began after the pilgrims and the native Americans harvested for the first time and had plentiful food in 1621 in Plymouth, Massachusetts. They gave thanks for their food and harvest and for all their help throughout the year. The first real thanksgiving was said to be in 1623 after giving thanks for the rain that ended the drought.
12 things i am grateful for are:
  • My family
  • a roof under my head
  • the clothes I have
  • the shoes on my feet
  • the food we have
  • the electronics I have received
  • music
  • friends
  • Harry styles
  • one direction
  • the beaches of California
  • Education

Reflection on Kindness

In the video i watched a young boy reached for the ball that flew into the bleachers, besides him, many other young boys were also reaching for it. the young boy finally caught it but not without leaving the other kid in tears. The boy who caught it, saw how devastated the other kid looked and he decided to give it to him. Feeling guilty over catching the ball was not in his agenda so he was being kind by giving the other boy the ball. In the end, Karma caught up and his kindness was recognized. He received an autographed baseball bat and the first pitch to their next game.

"kindness is the essence of greatness."
- Joseph B. Wirthlin

reflection: This quote means to me that being great goes hand in hand with kindness. Giving to charity for example shows your greatness because you are showing your worth and your'e being good. Kindness is                                                              the key to greatness and that is it.

"If it is not right, do not do it; if it is not true, do not say it." -Marcus Aurelius

reflection: I think this quote means that one must always think about what you are saying and doing before actually acting. One might say something offensive and hurtful to another if we do not think about what we are doing. If you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all.

"It may make a difference to all eternity whether we do right or wrong today."
-James Freeman Clark

This quote means to me that everyday we have a choice to be nice or bad and whichever we choose can affect our everyday life. Its the little thing in life that add up and if we choose bad everyday you will be unhappy and eternity will follow ,but being nice and being good will reflect you the same way in life therefore our doings make a difference always.

VETERAN'S DAY
Veteran's day is celebrated on November 11th because thats when a peace treaty, or armistice was signed between the US and Germany during World War 1. the name was orignially Armistice Day but was later changed to Veterans Day to honor all soldiers, dead and alive. I think this holiday is great because it shows that we all, as a country, still appreciate the work and lives risked by signing up for the army and fighting for our country. It remembers the unknown soldiers who have passed and the known who are still fighting. Memorial Day and Veterans Day are great holidays still celebrated in honor of our troops and their honorable lives.

"Doing what is right, fair and honorable is more important than winning or losing."
-Chick Moorman

This quote means to me that doing the right thing and being fair to everyone, even yourself, is better than being a winner or a loser because you cant choose between the two in being, say, honest or choosing the right.

He that walketh with the wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed
Proverbs 13:20

Reflection: This quote means that those people who associate themselves with good people who are wise will end up good and wise themselves but when they associate with bad people they will do no good and end up living poorly.
