Current event: The dress

          A dress has taken the internet by storm and has become an over night sensation. Millions argued over the true color of the dress, whether it be gold and white or black and blue. Just this morning i saw 2 news reports about it, 2 adoptions coming out because of it, 6 friendships broken, and a 'squad' on the verge of breaking up. This dress was said to be an experiment for the eyes from a local college student. Now i'm here to say that after researching it, the dress is a fraud. They used negative lighting to convert different versions of the dress and into tricking your eyes that it was black and blue. The original color of the dress is in fact gold and white but if you must, there is a version in black and blue. If people are so hung up on arguing over this one dress then go out to the store and buy the dress for yourself and think about the choices you have been making your life.

Reflection: This quote means to me that in order to get over the past and not regret it is to improve it by righting your wrongs. The past may haunt you and you think you can't do anything about it but in fact you can and it is the only way to keep your past honorable and rightful.

Reflexology

Duties and responsibilities:massage based form of alternative medicine focused on the hands and feet.stimulate pressure points to relieve stress and tension throughout the entire body.

Education: certificate or associate degree program in massage therapy, at least 110 hours of reflexology study

Reflection: I do not think i would like to become a reflexologist because it is basically a massage therapist but using pressure points and i am not very patient for these types of jobs.

Reflection: This quote means to me that the choice we have today to do right or wrong is what can effect you or anyone around you for an eternity. Like many people have the choice to help charities and the less fortunate, the donation can change someones life forever, but if you do the wrong thing and don't give back, then you will be seen as a bad person or even greedy. Choose the right, and the eternity will reflect on it.

Screen Writer

Duties and responsibilities:  Screenwriters work with directors and producers to write scripts for films or TV shows. They need to be able to work in a team and under pressure. They often begin their career as copywriters or writers for production companies.

Salary: $106,160 annually (for writers in motion picture and video industries.

Education: No education required specifically but writers often have a bachelor’s or certificates in screen writing.

  

Reflection: I think I would like to become a screen writer because you get to explore all different ideas and angles in a TV show that you have written yourself with help from the team, plus, who knows, it may even be the next great show or film people love. I love how you get to write in practically what you imagine and make it come to life when filming.

Reflection: This quote means to me that if you are unsure of what the future holds for you and you are hoping to gain something in the future, then you have nothing planned. The best way to ensure a successful future, the way you want it, is to create it yourself. You can create goals, go to school, internships, etc, anything that you can do to create what you want out of the future. You can become successful if you put up the work.

Why are these words spoken? People say these words because when a person sneezes, their heart stops, and they're wishing them good health and long life.

When did this saying originate? 

How did it originate?It began during the Roman age when they would say "Jupiter preserve you." but the term "bless you" began circulating after Pope Gregory told that to victims of the bubonic plague since sneezing was a regular symptom.

Where did this originate? This saying originated in the 6th century throughout Europe, during the bubonic plague, But now every country in the world has its own way of saying live healthy and strong after a sneeze.

Reflection: This quote means to me that often times one must question if what they are about to do is right or wrong. If the answer is 'right' then go along and do it, but if the answer is 'wrong' then one should really think about what they are doing and if it should be done. Knowing that what you want to do is wrong yourself, why do it? Plan out a better outcome by choosing the right, and not the wrong.

     Education: Post secondary certificate, no experience needed, associates degree

    

 Reflection: This career is probably not one i would like to look into in the future because it requires a lot of organization and i am not good with that, it also appears to be more of an office job like sitting ans filing and it does not sound like something i would like to do in the future.

Reflection: This quote means to me that when you act loyally and respectfully, you are honorable. It is in your action whether you are seen honorably and in your actions is where the decision is seen. So act well and there is the honor.

Environmental Health Services

Duties and responsibilities: Implement program activities related to the protection of the environment and public health safety.

Salary: $51,292- $62,982

Education: Registration in their state by the EHS,"UST" certification, bachelors degree,1 year of experience, 6 months as EHS trainee.

Reflection: I do not think i would like to become a Environmental health specialist because it does not sound interesting and although i care about the environment, i would not like to become a specialist for it.

Presidents Day

1.What is presidents day?

Presidents Day is a day used to honor our Presidents but it was originally to honor George Washington on his birthday (February 22)

2.What is the purpose of President's Day? 

The purpose of this day is to remember our presidents and honor their contributions to the country.

On the third Monday of February (February 16 this year, 2015)

4.What are ways to show honor and respect on Presidents day?

Many people used to go to  church to celebrate and boy scouts and other patriotic communities would throw celebrations and reenactments on the day to remember the greatness of our 1st President

5.Anything else? 

This holiday first began in 1800 ,the following year of Washington's death, on the day of his birthday. Later they decided to combine the celebration of Lincoln's and Washington's birthday as a joined holiday in between the dates. By the 2000's every state joined in and declared the uniformed holiday of the 3rd Monday in February an official holiday.

Reflection: This quote means to me that if you don't set goals out in life for yourself then you wont achieve anything. Much like if football didn't have goal posts then they wouldn't be winning anything. You have to have ambitions in life or else you'll never get anywhere since you know nothing of what you want to do or be 

History of basketball

           James Naismith, a Canadian, invented the first basketball in 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts. It was primarily made to condition young athletes during the winter. At the first invention of the game, there were only 13 rules and a peach basket was used as the hoop. The first time they played, he divided the class of 18 students into 2 groups of 9. The objective was to throw the ball into the basket which was laid on top of a balcony. Every time someone made a score, the game had to be stopped so that the janitor could retrieve the ball from the basket. Eventually the bottom was removed. On December 21, 1891 the first public game was played and of the two teams the end score was 1-0. After the game became more popular they switched the original soccer ball template to a spalding ball and the peach basket to a metal hoop, which is somewhat like the one used today. This new game was later introduced into colleges and thus making it become a multi-billion dollar enterprise by the end of the 20th century. The International basketball Federation was created in 1932 and in 1936, it became an Olympic sport. The new sport gained popularity in other countries and soon foreigners gained the skill of Americans and sometimes even surpassed it.

Duties and responsibilities: Veterinarians are trained in animal medicine, surgery and behavior. Graduates of veterinary programs may care for small animals, such as dogs and cats, or specialize in large animals, like horses.

Education: 4 year doctor of veterinary medicine, bachelors in animal science, license to practice

 Reflection: I Do not think i would  like to become a veterinarian because it is working with all types of animals and i cannot bear to see an animal sick,it is sad.

Western Medicine Doctor

Education: 4 years training, schooling, 6 years education, 3-7 years residency

Salary: $520,000

Reflection: I do not want to become a western medicine doctor because although they make a lot of money it is too much school time and I do not like that.
